November 17, 2017

Shakkyo is a story of a buddhist monk named Jakusho.
One day Jakusho arrived at the foot of Mount Seiryo, a sacred place with a stone bridge (Shakkyo) which Jakusho planned on crossing.
Suddenly a wood cutter boy appeared and told Jakusho that the bridge was a sacred bridge from the beginning of creation which led to the world of Manju Bosatsu (Majusri Bodhisattva). The wood cutter mentioned that only those who had completed penance could cross the bridge, that being said the wood cutter disappeared.

Waiting at the side of the bridge was a lion, the messenger of Monju Bosatsu. The lion danced energetically through a field of fragrant peonies and transformed into a carrier of Monju Bosatsu.
