His beginnings a metal-carving designer add a unique sensibility to his techniques. His works harmoniously balance the warmth of traditional ceramics and the cool, novel textures of metal. In his pieces, you'll find bold colorings of silver, red, and gray along with exquisitely controlled glazing.
I grew up in Hokkaido, surrounded by the magnificent natural beauty of the four seasons. Particularly impressive to me was the moon floating on the snowfield.
It is a quiet, original landscape in my mind.
Later, I encountered ceramics at Okinawa University of Arts. In graduate school, I was deeply attracted to the pure white of porcelain. Then I encountered the glittering techniques of Kutani overglaze painting and gold and silver painting. I began my own research on Kutani overglaze enamels and gold and silver painting. My works are a blend of the characteristics of porcelain and the unique techniques with the original landscape in my mind.
