Kazu Oba

Kazhito Oba apprenticed under Takashi Nakazato in Karatsu, one of the oldest ceramic centers in Kyushu, Japan. Kazu is trained to produce functional ware for everyday use. He maintains studios in Arvada, Lafayette and Boulder, and utilizes electric, gas, salt and wood kilns. Kazu and his wife have been cooking as professional chefs for over thirty years combined, and are always improving upon the relationship between pots and the food that's served in them.

"It is my sincere hope that people actually use more pots in their everyday lives."

Aside from his own production, Kazu assists Jerry Wingren for various sculpture projects, and assists Takashi Nakazato when he is working at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass, Colorado.
